What a year. There are so many words that come to mind when I think over the events of the last 365 days. None would do it justice, but the most prominent ones are isolation, fear, confusion, and loss.

The concept of the Echo was inspired by the grand scale of the events of the past year, and it has been eventful to say the least. For the first time in what seems like forever, the whole world has been brought to a standstill. It has been heavy and words will never compensate for the trauma. But as intense and heartbreaking as it has been, it has also been necessary and essential for self-reflection and healing. Whether we like to admit it or not, we have faced ourselves and found out what we value and what we don’t. As well as what we don’t. We have been faced with the important questions. Is the life I’m leading fulfilling me? Does it support my dreams and my purpose? If not, what do I need to change? Time is precious and we don’t know how much we have of it. People are precious and we don’t know how long we have them for. It’s natural to take things for granted, but if this year has taught us anything it’s that we really shouldn’t. Not time. Not health. Not the people we love. Not even ourselves.
This year was a reminder to be present. To spend time with our families and loved ones. A reminder that we should not take
things, people, or life for granted. It was a reminder that we are alive and that gratitude goes a long way.
Cosmic Echo is a collection of paintings that represents the lows, as much as the highs.
